Building Update: May 2026

Northlake Family,

What an exciting season this is for our church family.

As we enter the summer months, I know many of you are looking forward to vacations, time with family and friends, moments of rest, and making memories together. Summer is always a special season, and while many of us are slowing down just a bit, here at Northlake, there is also tremendous momentum building as we move closer and closer to stepping into our new worship center.

I wanted to take a moment to give you a quick update on where we are in the construction process.

As many of you have noticed, the exterior of the new facility is nearly complete. There are still a few remaining items such as grading, landscaping, and final exterior touches, but the building exterior itself is roughly 90% complete, and, it is absolutely beautiful.

Still to come on the exterior is screening to hide the HVAC units on the roof and the covered walkway/bridge that will connect the new worship center to our current facility, which will become our new children’s and student ministry building. This covered connection will allow families to move back and forth between buildings comfortably and safely, protected from the weather.

Inside the building, incredible progress continues to happen week after week. About 85% of the tile work has now been completed. Toilets and fixtures have been installed. The air conditioning systems are fully installed and operational. Permanent electrical power was turned on this past week. Painting crews are moving room by room and hallway by hallway, bringing the facility to life.

Next up will be flooring, millwork, audio/visual installation, sound systems, lighting, televisions, furnishings, appliances, and even the café coffee equipment.

And church, I’m happy to tell you that we are actually running a little ahead of schedule.

As exciting as all of this is, it also comes with very real challenges and responsibilities. In many ways, we are now on the financial clock as our construction loan will eventually transition into a permanent mortgage. That means these next few months are incredibly important for us as a church family. For those of you who have already made commitments to the Becoming vision campaign, thank you. We fully understand that many of those commitments continue beyond the completion of the building itself. Your faithfulness and sacrifice have been overwhelming, and I am deeply grateful. In our family, we have learned once again you can never out give God.

At the same time, I want to lovingly encourage those who are able to give during these next three or four months to consider giving above and beyond if possible. Every additional dollar given toward principal now helps strengthen the long-term financial health of our church for years to come. For those of you who may be newer to Northlake and never had the opportunity to participate in the Becoming campaign, may I encourage you to prayerfully consider joining so many others who have sacrificially given above and beyond their regular giving to make this vision a reality.  We all also need to be reminded in these tough summer months to participate in our regular giving and practice generosity. 

Over the last two years I have watched families sacrifice vacations, delay purchases, postpone upgrades, set aside personal wants, stop investing in retirement and college savings to give generously because they believe in what God is doing through this church. So many of you have chosen to place the Kingdom of God and the mission of reaching this city ahead of your own comforts, and I simply cannot thank you enough for that kind of faith and generosity. But as we prepare for this next season, we must also remember this: We are not simply building a building. We are preparing for even greater ministry. We must prepare our hearts and our hands for the people God is going to send. This next season will bring tremendous ministry opportunities, and we need every member of our church family engaged and ready to serve. Be ready to lead a community group. Be ready to greet people in the parking lot. Be ready to serve in children’s ministry. Be ready to welcome guests, make coffee, hold doors, help students, pray with people, disciple families, and care for those walking through difficult seasons.

I truly believe we are stepping into a new wave of ministry opportunity and growth, and I cannot wait to see how God uses every single one of us in the days ahead.

I love this church deeply. I love this community deeply. Bridget and I are incredibly thankful to walk alongside you in this vision of loving Jesus and bringing hope to every man, woman, and child in our city. So let us walk forward in faith together over these next few months with great anticipation and expectation, believing that as we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, He will continue to faithfully provide for both our families and our church.

God has been faithful and He will continue to be faithful.
